We’re proud to announce that Coach Gumbs will be joining the Stuart Hall High School boys’ basketball program as an Assistant Coach starting this June!
This marks a meaningful new chapter in a journey already defined by purpose, passion, and a relentless commitment to youth empowerment through sport.
A Legacy of Leadership
As the founder of EMA, Coach Gumbs has dedicated his career to inspiring and empowering individuals through basketball and coaching. Under his leadership, EMA has impacted the lives of over 2,500 students across the Bay Area, combining athletic training with leadership development, social-emotional growth, and mentorship.
Coach Gumbs’ philosophy is grounded in experience. A former college athlete who graduated from USF and professional basketball player, he brings a deep understanding of resilience, grit, and the character it takes to pursue greatness—on and off the court. Through EMA, he has transformed these life lessons into a platform that builds better athletes and people.
A Holistic Approach to Coaching
Coach Gumbs views basketball as more than just a sport—it’s a powerful tool for personal development. His approach weaves together leadership training, social networking, sports coaching, and mental and emotional well-being to help young people grow into confident, capable leaders.
At Stuart Hall, he’ll take that same all-around approach to coaching. He’ll focus on whatever needs to be done, but here are a few things he’ll be helping out with:
- Breaking down of film
- Scouting other teams
- Player and Leadership Development
- Defense
- Mental toughness
- Teamwork and Community connection
- Winning Culture
Coach doesn’t just teach athletes how to win games—he teaches how to win at life.
Looking Forward
Joining Stuart Hall is a continuation of Coach Gumbs’ mission to change youth sports culture and elevate youth through purpose-led coaching. Known for his unwavering dedication and thoughtful mentorship, he’s ready to contribute to a program that values integrity, academic excellence, and personal growth as much as athletic success.
Please join us in congratulating Coach Gumbs on joining the Stuart Hall community.
