If your child doesn’t get into the school of choice it can be frustrating.

But remember: it’s just the beginning of a journey.

Every other soon-to-be-high schooler in the area is turning in an application too, and there are only so many spots open at each school.

If it doesn’t go how you were hoping, turn your frustration into an opportunity to move forward with brand-new expectations. Those who are dedicated to their studies will excel at any school, so encourage your child to push themselves no matter what position they find themselves in.

You may even realize later on that the school they ended up in was a better fit in the first place.

Most importantly, keep in mind that your family is also a team. So, work as one during the process. Listen to each other, respect boundaries, and be empathetic as not everyone is motivated by the same things.

What about giving your kid a chance to take the lead in some of the steps? They might surprise you!
